I just found out when Nokia’s PC Suite notified me with an update of their software. Nokia made the new firmware available couple of weeks ago and is only available for the European and Asian version of the N95.

The new Nokia N95 firmware update version 21.0.016 is ready to download (around 118mb) and install with Nokia Software Update utility. You can also visit the nearest Nokia Service center to request for an upgrade if you’re not comfortable on updating your phone on your own.

After hours of testing on an offline version of my blog, I have finally decided to upgrade to Wordpress 2.5. As I expected, there were no compatibility issues encountered with the theme just like on the test blog.

More than 90% of the plugins worked perfectly after the upgrade and only the AdSense Manager and Live plugins have issues with this new version of Wordpress. Hopefully, an update will fix these issues.

So far, I’m pretty impressed with this new version. Overall, I like the fresh new look and feel of the Dashboard. Colors are cool to the eyes and navigation is much better compared to the previous version. I’m also happy with the one click plugin feature, it just makes maintaining your plugins up-to-date easier and almost hassle free.

After some delays, Automattic has finally released Wordpress 2.5 and is now available for download. The 2.5 branch is nicknamed “Brecker” in honor of Michael Brecker, an exceptionally talented saxophonist.

For a short overview of features with some screenshots, I suggest visiting the RC1 announcement. Or check the screencast of the new Wordpress interface in action. If you want to upgrade and go straight with the good stuff, I suggest checking your theme and plugins first to make sure that you won’t encounter some compatibility issues.

The improvements in 2.5 are numerous, and almost entirely a result of your feedback: multi-file uploading, one-click plugin upgrades, built-in galleries, customizable dashboard, salted passwords and cookie encryption, media library, a WYSIWYG that doesn’t mess with your code, concurrent post editing protection, full-screen writing, and search that covers posts and pages.

I hope everybody had a nice weekend. Anyway, it’s been a while since my last post mainly because of the things I need to finish and no thanks to my cable crap Internet connections which decided to play on-and-off on me for several days.

Here are some interesting news I gathered while browsing on an “almost” dial up cable Internet connection.

You may have seen reports of Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 floating on the net by now. I stumbled a couple of links and torrents on several discussion boards but most of them are either RC1 (Refresh 1), Fakes or just plain old Trojans. Surely, a lot of people doesn’t want to wait several days to get a hold of their own copy and install it on there system.

For couple of days, the only people who can get a valid Vista Service Pack 1 are some beta testers and people who have an MSDN accounts. Luckily, several people made this available to the general public, so you don’t need to wait until March to get a hold of Vista Service Pack 1. You have two ways on getting the Service Pack.

Just a few hours ago, Automattic released WordPress 2.3.3 which fixes the flaw found in the XML-RPC implementation of WordPress which would allow a valid user to edit posts of any other user on that blog.

A recommended update for your WordPress powered blog and I suggest you do so. I saw a couple of blogs being exploited because of an outdated WP engine. We don’t want to have someone exploit the bugs on your own blog, do we now?

With version 2.3.3, it also includes some few minor bugs that can be found here. If you are interested only in the security fix, download the fixed version of xmlrpc.php and copy over your existing xmlrpc.php.
