After hours of testing on an offline version of my blog, I have finally decided to upgrade to Wordpress 2.5. As I expected, there were no compatibility issues encountered with the theme just like on the test blog.
More than 90% of the plugins worked perfectly after the upgrade and only the AdSense Manager and Live plugins have issues with this new version of Wordpress. Hopefully, an update will fix these issues.
So far, I’m pretty impressed with this new version. Overall, I like the fresh new look and feel of the Dashboard. Colors are cool to the eyes and navigation is much better compared to the previous version. I’m also happy with the one click plugin feature, it just makes maintaining your plugins up-to-date easier and almost hassle free.
Â
Bottom line is Wordpress 2.5 is one recommended upgraded for all Wordpress powered blogs. Kudos to the WP team and the community as well for providing feedback to the developers for the improvement of this great blog engine.
On a side note, I have also upgraded the Gallery 2 core files of my photo gallery to the newest version which fixes some bugs and patches some security holes. The upgrade went smoothly albeit manually unzipping and overwriting core files is a bit time consuming. Don’t get me wrong, Gallery 2 is a solid photo sharing web application but they need to implement a much simpler and user friendly upgrade just like with Wordpress.
If you haven’t downloaded Wordpress 2.5 yet, its already available for download and you can grab a copy here. If you are also using Gallery 2 for your photo gallery, then you can grab the newest version here.

Will do! Thanks for dropping by.
Gabriel,
I just visited your blog. You got a good song there.
Vance,
Glad that it went well to you too. IMHO, Wordpress 2.5 is really one of the best version of WP that Automattic released.

I also upgraded to WP2.5 but the sad part is, the widgets are not as movable as they used to in WP2.3. You can’t just simply drag and drop widgets from left sidebar to right sidebar.
I have my post about this here.

zooltv,
Just use the WP auto upgrade plugin. It simple and much more easier to upgrade your WP installation.
Rai,
I didn’t encountered that problem on my theme. You can check out the person who made your theme and get an updated version of it.
raxso,
Same here. I’m pretty impressed with the new look and feel.
Rhodilee,
Hehehe, it happens but I’m happy that Automattic patches these security issues pretty quick.
