Command & Conquer 3: I felt Kane’s Wrath first hand!

I was at the mall this afternoon, trying to cool myself from this hot humid weather then I decided to drop by at Datablitz to check out some new game titles. Lo and behold, Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath is already on their shelves ready for my picking. As an avid RTS fan like myself, I quickly asked the saleslady if I can have one and lucky me they still have one on stock.
The saleslady told me if my computer specs are within the system requirements of the game and with a smile, I answered yes. I was polite when I answered that questions since I’m pretty sure that it will run on my system but to tell you honestly I was like LOL inside myself and as thinking on why the heck my Quad Core rig won’t be able to handle this game.
I paid PHP 995 for this game and the excited lil old me, opened the box to check what’s inside. Here’s some pictures to share:
Upon checking the manual, I saw new units and upgrades for the GDI, NOD and Scrin faction. And that’s not all, it has 3 new factions as well namely, the Steel Talons, Zocom, and the Black Hand.
I flagged a cab to get home quicker in order for me to play the game immediately. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to because I didn’t meet 1 system requirement. Its not the processer (I have a QuadCore), its not the RAM (I have 2GB DDR2), its not even the graphics card (I have a Geforce 7950GT 512MB card), so what is it?
It was my free freakin HD space. The game requires 6GB of free space and I’m already down to 7GB. Now, I’m trying to decide on what files to keep so I can play this game. Some old anime series? Several episodes of Terminator or a season of Heroes? Or my education materials lying around the bottom pits of my hard disk? Decisions….. decisions…..
For now, I waved my white flag while I get some blank DVDs tomorrow and clear out some space on my hard disk. And that’s how, ladies and gentlemen, Kane pwned me and I definitely felt his wrath at this one.
P.S. Curt, if you are reading this, this is the reason why I wasn’t able to respond to your inquiry immediately. Sorry about that.

Oh I thought you’ll be using the blank dvds for something else hahahaha… Joke!
And you need The C and C 3: Tiberium Wars to play it.. of course you know that.
You have a Recommended Rig with what you have.. You don’t need to worry about anything.. HAHAHAHA. I thought you have a midrange setup but hey you have a Core 2 Quad with 79xx Vcard (the 8800Gt non DX10 competitor). I envious! harhar.. Additionally you can afford to buy a new 320Gb SATAII drive as its getting cheaper nowadays. hehe..
I wish I can afford a orig game like you hahaha!.. I just borrow them from people who don’t play them anymore..

Actually I already have almost 1TB of space and I thought that would be sufficient, guess I was wrong. I have 2 Internal 320GB SATAs and 1 external 320GB drive. The first one is for the OS, backups, and MP3 collection.
The 2nd one is for animes, TV show series, movies and some uncategorized downloads from the net.
The 3rd 320Gb drive is an external one. I have several backup data there, PSP games and some education materials. The drive is at the office being use to share some files….. the PSP games.
All 3 drives are almost full. I might get 2 500GB when price goes down even further.
Anyway, I really hope I can play this tomorrow.

They will go down with 1 TB’s are already available in the market..
Your next project should be FreeNAS system so that you have a backup for you collection hehehehe… networkly share them.
I used to have about 500Gb Storage (250Gb and 320Gb) and I was able to fill it up with my collection within weeks.. unfortunately, my 320gb drive keeps dying on me.
I just want to share hehe:
the expansion pack would be free through you know what ways but its to big 8Gb file hehe..

The same thing happened to me when I was about to install KOTOR 2 last year. Ran out of HD space.
I first thought of getting DVDs for ‘evacuating’ some of the old files, but I figured getting an external HD to store it all was better since it took care of housing not just the files to be ‘evacuated’ but also all of the files that are not really needed to be stored in my HDs.
I ended up recovering half of my HD’s space to enjoy KOTRO 2 + CIV 4 + COD 4 and a secure place for the rest of my files.

vance,
I did consider a NAS solution but its too expensive for me especially with the 8K up price tag for a good NAS. Rainbow Six? If I remember it correctly, the last time I played Rainbow Six was early 2000.. LOL.
jhay,
Good thng it went well for you. I had to spend a couple of hours moving, deleting, and burning files just to get the needed space.
Michael Aulia,
LOL! I’m considering on giving it away on a raffle or something since I’m not really into beta testing. I can use it though just to peak on the new units and experience the game play first hand.
