Asus’s chief executive officer, Jerry Shen revealed details of their upcomming EeePC. he told Laptop Magazine that he prefers Intel’s Diamondville processor over Via’s Isaiah chip.
Slowly but surely, we are seeing the EeePC getting more features , including wireless broadband. However, the new EeePCs will be more expensive than the debut model but Shen believes that there will be a price drop in the future.
The EeePC will be shipping with an Atom processor (Diamondville core) in May, according to the executive. Apparently, Asus is not planning with Via’s next mobile processor Isaiah, which Via claims is faster than Atom while consuming about the same power. Shen said that Diamondville is “competitive” in terms of pricing and has the advantage that it is built in 45 nm.
Shen shared that the Eee PC will get:
For me this is tempting with the specs above. A 10″ screen would probably much better, so that’s something to look for. I am puzzled though on why Asus choose a crippled version of Xandros rather than Ubuntu.
Ubuntu has a rapidly growing cult following out there, probably the number one mod to the Eee is to stick some form of ‘buntu on it. Both are completely free, so how about it?

Michael,
Vista is just too big (around 15GB OS only) and needs a higher system requirement compared to XP.
Vance,
Saw that too. If I remember correctly, they will sell it around $300 or so.

actually MSI will be selling for 450USD.
Another thing I also wondered why the 12Gb and 20Gb has a Linux OS instead of a windows os that eats more space??
