An iPhone Hacker has managed to port a functioning P2P client to the iPhone based on a popular Bitorrent client for Macs. According to Gizmodo, this is presently a command line client and the application will most likely drain your battery.
Test on the P2P client have been performed and its a promising software from the looks of it once development progresses. Here’s something that you should know first if you plan to use to download torrent files:
- This is a command line client, although someone will probably make a GUI version in the future.
- EDGE and P2P don’t mix! Use WiFi instead if you want to download at a decent speed.
- An iPhone battery drainer. Torrenting will drain your battery extremely rapidly.
- As of the moment, there’s no easy to install then follow for further instructions package available.
A preliminary software, but it is a first and will likely see improvements in the future.

Not much from the looks of it. Even on my phone (N95), excessive use of WIFI can drain your battery on an instant.
