A New Week Starts! News around the Web

Posted on | February 12, 2008 | 3 Comments

I hope everybody had a nice weekend. Anyway, it’s been a while since my last post mainly because of the things I need to finish and no thanks to my cable crap Internet connections which decided to play on-and-off on me for several days.

Here are some interesting news I gathered while browsing on an “almost” dial up cable Internet connection.

Yahoo! Live Launched ! and they launch it quietly (with no apostrophe). So, what is it? They call it a new experiment in live video from the Advanced Products team at Yahoo! but from my perspective, its YouTube with a “twist”.

We’re excited to share with you Yahoo! Live, a new experiment in live video from the Advanced Products team at Yahoo!. Y! Live was dreamed up as a way to make it possible for anyone to create their own live video experience. Broadcast the concert you’re at. Webcast your own live DJ set. Lifecast. Build your own live video speed dating application. We’ve created a website and an API that lets you do all these things and many more.

Firefox 2.0.0.12 was released a couple of days ago. The auto-update feature built into Firefox automatically notified me of the available update. This release fixes a number of security and stability issues discovered (around 10) in Firefox 2.0.0.11.

Nokia releases their new N-series phones namely N96, N78 and the 6220.

nokia-6220

Nokia 6220 Classic
2.2 inch screen, 3.5G/HSDPA, Assisted GPS, 5MP Camera, TV Output, Xenon flash, FM Tuner, Bluetooth, up to 8GB storage

nokia-n78

Nokia N78
3.5G/HSDPA, WiFi, 3.2MP Carl Zeiss optics, Assisted GPS, FM, Bluetooth, up to 8 GB

nokia-n96

Nokia N96
3.5G/HSDPA, WiFi, Assisted GPS, 2.8 inch screen, 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, flash & video light, DVB-H for Digital TV, 16GB Internal memory. The N96 has a built-in 16GB internal memory, and you can add an external 8GB microSDHC in addition with the internal memory boosting it to 24GB.

From the specs of the N96, this is one phone that I would definitely love to have. It looks like an Iphone, it now has a built-in memory like the N95 8GB and an external memory slot like the classic N95. With all the features it have, I just hope that Nokia will include a battery that can last longer than the ones that came with their N95 phones.

Mac OS 10.5.2 a patch for the recently released Mac OS X 10.5, known as “Leopard. The update fixes several bugs in the Mac Operating system, including eight bugs. The patches include fixes for Safari, Mail, Launch Services, the Mac OS Directory Services, Open Directory and Parental Controls.

There are also patches for several Unix components that ship with Apple’s software, including a recently patched flaw in the Samba file-and-print software. For Mac users out there, the patch should be available by now via the Software Update.

Well, that’s if for now. My Internet connection is holding up for now and hopefully it will stay the way it is for the rest of the week.
