If you're new here, you may want to subscribe via RSS feed or Email. Thank you for visiting! If you haven’t notice yet, my blog is now sporting a new look since last week. After a couple of days of customizing the CSS and PHP scripts, I finally decided to launch the new theme. My blog is now back with the blue and white look which is quite similar to the theme I use last year. Unfortunately, I had to change that theme last 3 (or 4?) months ago because of some incompatibility issues after upgrading to Wordpress 2.3.

I’m not sure how many of you are having this problem but Google says it has fixed a problem that was causing Windows Mobile phone users to receive blank Gmail messages. I didn’t encounter any problems retrieving my emails since I am using a phone powered by Symbian. Anyway if you did encounter a problem with your GMail account, it should be working fine by now.
In October, Google began supporting IMAP for Gmail. That means messages that mobile users send or receive from their phones are synced with their Gmail accounts, appearing the next time users access their accounts from a computer. But shortly after the announcement, Windows Mobile users began complaining in online forums about problems.

Nvidia, the leading graphic chip maker is planning to launch the next generation nForce 790i chipset in the second quarter this year. The chipset will adopt Nvidia’s C73 northbridge and MCP55 southbridge, and will support Intel processors with FSB up to 1600MHz.
The chipset will feature 3-way SLI and Hybrid SLI technology and will support DDR3 memory. Now, with these features I guess Nvidia and motherboard makers are targeting high-end gamers who are willing to spend for a new chipset, a 3-way SLI and DDR3 memory.
For the meantime I’m going to stick with my current setup. I’m still happy with my Abit IP-35 with Intel’s P35 chipset and from the benchmark I saw, the difference between a system running DDR2 against DD3 is not the big.

Two weeks ago, I attended the baptismal ceremony of Erwin’s daughter, Faith. One of the guests there was Exx, a friend from my previous work and currently working for Paypal. He told me that Paypal was working on the option for a local bank withdrawal albeit, he didn’t provide any specific dates but he did mention that it will be “soon”. At the back of my head, I was thinking that Paypal will take a few more months before they will make this option available to their clients until I saw this…

Dell finally listens and in response to feedback from Dell customers who want Linux on more hardware and in more countries, Dell has announced that starting today, customers in Germany, United Kingdom, France and now Spain can purchase Ubuntu Linux 7.10 with built-in DVD playback on the XPS 1330n (in addition to the previously-released Inspiron 530n desktop system).
And if you haven’t heard yet, Dell has plans on entering the local PC market. So, are we going to expect a Ubuntu Pre-installed Dell PC on our shores? I’m hoping that it would be a “yes”.

I stumbled upon a story from Digitimes about DRAM supplies getting short this year and it was mentioned that Microsoft’s Vista SP1 might be a trigger for more DRAM demand . Though Microsoft hasn’t confirmed it yet, they did mention on their blog that service pack 1 for Windows Vista will be out on the first quarter of this year.

Looks like Automattic is starting strong this year as they announced free upload space increase from a measly 50mb to 3,000mb. That’s an instant 60x increase! This is to compete with other blog platform such as from Typepad and Blogger.
