The Sony PSP is known to be multimedia packed device because of features such as a built browser, video and music player. Now, another step functionality will be added via a GPS add-on. So if you’re a PSP owner and planning on going out of town but can’t afford those GPS devices that cost hundred of dollars, then this add-on is just what you need.

The GPS Receiver measures 45mm x 41mm x 17mm and weighs approximately 16 grams. It sits on top of the PSP expansion socket and is bolted onto the system with a thumbscrew.
The current GPS software enables road car navigation (for Japan), walking routes, and shops directory – all much like current standalone GPS offerings. Updates to maps will be offered via Sony’s usual network channels.
The GPS add cost 5,000 yen (US$43). An import unit will cost $59.90, plus $8.80 shipping and its available at Play-Asia.

Looks like Sony wants to dominate the GPS industry. But i seriously doubt this will be a big thing since most of the psp gamers are little kids and adults won’t buy a psp for GPS, they would just get a normal one ….well thats what i think, it could be different.
