Philippine Long Distance Telephone plans to launch a FTTH (fibre-to-the home) broadband delivery platform to deliver high-speed data services to residences and buildings by the middle of this year. FTTH uses fiber optic technology that transmits data which will allow delivery of voice, video and data services simultaneously.

Though there is no information yet about the FTTH subscription plans that will be offered to the public, an FTTH-enabled computer posted download speeds of up to 94.86 megabits per second (mbps) and upload rates of 69.39 mbps at a demonstration facility at the PLDT’s head office.

I just want to share this little Vista Gadget that will enable to get some basic information on your DNS-323 NAS. It provides temperature reading and Drive status. It will also allow you to restart and/or shutdown your NAS if you need too.

Microsoft has announced that the RTM version of Windows Vista SP2 has been finished and compiled. Windows Vista Service Pack 2 has a version string being 6.0.6002.18.005. It includes all updates that have been delivered since SP1, as well as support for new types of hardware and emerging hardware standards.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 39,455 or 44.51% out of 88,649 examinees that took the November 2008 Nursing Board have passed.

Jovie Ann Alawas Decoyna of Baguio Central University topped the board, with 89 percent. While Xavier university ranked number one among the schools whose students took the board exams.

The first 2.7 maintenance release, is now available and this is a recommended upgrade since 2.7.1 fixes 68 tickets.

If you already have WordPress 2.7 installed, you’ll receive an update notification that will allow you to upgrade WordPress from within WP-Admin itself. Or you can upgrade to the latest version by going to Tools > Upgrade in WP-Admin and it will allow you to upgrade the files and the database in one step.

If you’re using 2.6.x or older then you will need to manually download and upgrade your installation of WordPress. You can grab a copy WordPress 2.7.1 at Wordpress.org.
