A few hours from now and Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will be against a formidable foe, the Puerto Rican boxer Miguel “Boricua bomber” Cotto in a fight dubbed “Firepower”.
If Pacquiao wins this fight, he will be the first boxer to win a seventh world title in as many divisions. The much anticipated boxing event starts at 9PM EST / 6PM PST and will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cable Cut Cripples Asia-Pacific Internet

A cable cut in the Asia-Pacific Cable Network 2 (APCN2) undersea submarine cable crippled Internet connection speed across the Asia-Pacific region.
PLDT, Globe, Smart and other local ISP are getting complaints from users due to slow connection speeds to sites hosted outside of the region. A Bayantel employee / mod even confirmed the problem over their support forum.
We would like to advise you that there is a major cable cut via APCN2 that affects all local carriers’ international telecommunication services including access to the Internet from the Philippines. You may experience some slowing down of your Internet connectivity for the duration of the said outage.

PLDT to launch FTTH

Philippine Long Distance Telephone plans to launch a FTTH (fibre-to-the home) broadband delivery platform to deliver high-speed data services to residences and buildings by the middle of this year. FTTH uses fiber optic technology that transmits data which will allow delivery of voice, video and data services simultaneously.
Though there is no information yet about the FTTH subscription plans that will be offered to the public, an FTTH-enabled computer posted download speeds of up to 94.86 megabits per second (mbps) and upload rates of 69.39 mbps at a demonstration facility at the PLDT’s head office.
